Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their next match against Finnish KuPS ought to be enough to secure straight passage to the last 16, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were no match even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Dominance Established from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
