Trio Named as Finalists for Young Sports Personality Prize

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the upcoming Young Athlete of the Year award.

The trio have been celebrated for their remarkable achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the very first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a record-breaking innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The three contenders were revealed during a live broadcast on a popular morning radio program.

The 2025 recipient will be unveiled on the Sports Personality of the Year show on the 18th of December.

The show will be aired from 19:00 GMT.

The Football Star

Only 90 days after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.

These match-saving moments led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Afterwards, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is incredible," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

The Darts Prodigy

Littler kicked off the year in spectacular fashion as - aged 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

He didn't stop there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, shattering the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for the honour once more is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a special memory for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and burst into the spotlight with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin finished second in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm deeply humbled to be nominated for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it inspires more young women to get into cricket."
