The American champion Optimistic of Being 'perfectly positioned' for the upcoming Winter Olympics

Alpine star Lindsey Vonn asserts she will be "in a good place" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, after securing a podium spot for the fourth instance in her last five World Cup races.

The 41-year-old, who recently made history by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This represented her 142nd career World Cup podium finish.

Impressive Performance in Val d'Isere

Racing in the French Alps resort for the first time in almost a decade, Vonn crossed the line in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was 0.36 seconds behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing second place.

"I was slightly lacking the right line on the first jump," Vonn said. "After that, I skied well. I'm pleased with my skiing today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious."

This result was her second podium at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also claimed bronze in the downhill on Saturday.

A Remarkable Comeback from Injury

Vonn stepped away from competition in early 2019 because of ongoing knee problems. However, she returned to racing in December 2024 following a partial knee replacement.

With 47 days remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are set to run from 6-22 February, Vonn's form are highly promising.

She already possesses an Olympic gold and two Olympic bronze medals from previous Games and is strongly positioned to represent the United States at the next Olympics.

"In Cortina, I will be fully ready," Vonn affirmed.

Aiming for Further Glory

In addition to her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four overall crystal globes she has secured over a career spanning 20 years.

She currently holds a substantial lead at the summit of the downhill World Cup rankings and is sitting in fifth place in the super-G World Cup table.

This season's World Cup circuit includes a total of nine races scheduled before the circuit finale in Norway on March 21st, 2026.
