President Trump Invites Families of Injured Military Personnel to White House

Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

White House Call

The president explained he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to assist policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was kind, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Government Changes

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The incident caused the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and cease issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to visit the family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,” the governor informed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
