Kennedy Center Votes for Major Renaming to Trump-Kennedy Performing Arts Center, According to White House Statement.

The leadership board of the iconic performing arts venue has approved a measure to change its name the Trump-Kennedy Center, as confirmed by the White House.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declared online that the board's approval was consensus, crediting "the extraordinary job President Trump has done over the last year in rescuing the building."
"This will be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt attain new levels of success and grandeur," Leavitt added.
The intended name change is likely to prove deeply divisive, notably in Washington, D.C., where the center has served as an beloved institution since its completion and christening for President John F. Kennedy.
Background of the Venue
Shortly after assuming the presidency, President Donald Trump dismissed all the center's incumbent trustees and installed supporters in their place. The newly constituted board then voted to appoint Trump as chairman.
The president helped procure approximately $257 million in federal funds to pay for major renovations and associated costs at the national venue.
Original Concept
The concept for a Washington-based performing arts center began in the 1950s. Following the tragic death of President John F. Kennedy, the 35th president, in 1963, the then-under-construction venue was dedicated to his memory.
