England's Coach Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation
The bowler's most recent Test for New Zealand was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England bowling consultant Southee is still working through what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is only likely to be present for the opening match due to his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which starts on December 2 in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Speaking as the English team for the first of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was announced, he stated of his availability: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the next little while."
England pace icon Stuart Broad had stated the Australia side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which begins on November 21.
"In my view there's ever a poor Aussie side," Southee said.
"Our focus is squarely on our own objectives. I think the quality of [England's] side that's going out to Australia is brilliant.
"It should be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
But, before England head to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
