Admittedly, it's Packed with Absurdity, Over-the-Top Hospitality and Psychobabble. Yet I Truly Adore Meghan's Holiday Special.

No concerned with the season, it's perpetually open season for criticism on the Duchess of Sussex's TV show, With Love, Meghan. Critics, from seasoned journalists to online pundits, have seldom found such common ground as when gleefully ripping the program's earlier episodes to shreds. The general consensus held that a greater royal outrage had seldom occurred than the now-infamous pretzel re-packaging incident.

Currently, in the spirit of a holiday maverick, she makes a comeback for another round with a "Holiday Celebration" (also known as a yuletide episode). However on this occasion, things have shifted. The standard components audiences anticipate – vague self-help platitudes, intense hospitality – persist, but within the context of a yuletide episode, the purpose becomes clear. The elements have slid together; it's a flawless festive blizzard.

Now, Meghan is like the eccentric aunt at most festive family gatherings – dispensing unsolicited, unnecessary advice, and delivering the periodic peculiar declaration. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's quite a personality, but her aura is known and oddly reassuring. And she appears content; she's causing a bit of damage.

She knows her all subtle gestures, word and look will be analyzed and judged, but still appears unburdened and serenely untroubled.

Perhaps this is the initial instance in history where that clichéd phrase – "Don't listen, it's pure jealousy" – may well be true. Because, let's face it, each element in Meghan's Holiday Celebration is lovely. Yes, it's all cringily ultra-extra, foolishness and over the top – but is that not just what Christmas is all about? And the advice she gives might be laughable, but the life she leads genuinely looks impeccably styled.

Whatever she attempts, she pulls off with style. Her cooking looks delicious, the festive decoration she makes is breathtaking, her gifts are nearly too beautiful to open. Nothing is ordinary or visually unappealing – including the way she ties her kitchen garment is artful and chic. She doesn't throw a dish in the microwave, it "takes a twirl", and she creases wrapping paper like an origami guru. She also seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself the entire time. How could any hate-watcher not be convinced, filled with holiday spirit and left with a intense desire for personalized Christmas crackers or a vegetable display where greens is arranged in the form of a festive circle?

Meghan had a career in acting for a living, naturally, but even so, after the intensity of scrutiny she has weathered since she became involved with Prince Harry, even a hypothetical offspring of two legendary actresses would have difficulty behaving this authentically. Her decision to alter or even soften her shtick, despite it being so constantly, globally mocked, is strangely reassuring. In our volatile world, here is something we can rely on: Meghan will be like this, whatever happens. We will always know where we are with her.

If you're not yet convinced by her brand, a point that will surely come as a comfort: you are not obligated to. We don't have mandatory conscription in this country, and if there were, it would be improbable to include streaming With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, on the other hand, you decide to tune in and are consumed by longing about her flawless Christmas, there is hope either. Whether you're a duchess or a everyday person, no kid fully understands the effort and hard work their parent expends in December. So you can find comfort by picturing her children's faces when they reveal a calligraphy note that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a DIY festive calendar, rather than a candy.
